CHRAZY CHRIS STRIKES AGAIN

Ken Berwitz

I haven\’t done a “Chrazy Chris” installment in some time.  Not because I was without opportunity, but because, if done too many times, it loses impact.

But today I have to

Here is the “Let me finish” segment from last night\’s “Hardball” show in rust, with my comments in blue:

Let me finish tonight (we should be so lucky) with the wondrous fact that Donald Trump was the one to say the emperor has noclothes. Ever since September 11, 2001, the Democrats have joined theRepublicans in agreeing that the country would be better off if wedidn\’t become divided in blame over who allowed this country\’s worst attack onthe continental United States.  Wrong, right from the start.  Democrats have spent the last 14 years claiming that Bush knew of the attack beforehand, based on an August 6, 2001 memo — a memo which, if you read it instead of taking their word – you will find does not – repeat, not – warn him of the 9/11 attack.

What upset thisarrangement was Jeb Bush\’s statement, deniable on its face, that his brotherGeorge quote “kept us safe.” Well, actually, he didn\’t. He did a goodjob of rallying the country after we were hit, a quick job of tracking down thekillers to Afghanistan. From there it all came apart with his war of choiceagainst Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with what happened here in 2001.  Pathetic.  First off, unless Matthews is accusing Bush of thinking 9/11 was a day of safety for the United States, he knows that Bush meant his brother kept us safe after 9/11 – which, he clearly agrees with.  So the entire premise of this “let me finish” commentary is nonexistent.  And then we have the endlessly repeated claim that going into Iraq had no basis, which conveniently ignores the fact – FACT, Chris – that our intelligence, and British, and Russian, and French, and Israeli intelligence all concluded saddam hussein had weapons of mass destruction.  It is one of the great lies of our time that Bush lied about the WMD\’s, and one Matthews obviously has no problem repeating.

In any case, whatbrings this matter back is the atrocious way in which the Republican Party istrying to blame Hillary Clinton for the deaths of four Americans serving inLibya in 2012. Y\’mean that on 9/11 – the one day of the year terrorists would most like to strike us – she neither had the Benghazi compound on high alert, nor had any contingency plans in place in case it was hit?  If Republicans blame her for that, they are good and damn right to.  So would you, if you weren\’t an owned an operated subsidiary of the Democrats in general and Hillary Clinton in particular.  Three years later, they continue to hunt her, hunt her down youcan say, on the groundless argument that someone must be to blame. Well, you follow that argument and the trail of 9/11, and you end up with George W.Bush.  There you go, folks. It wasn\’t Hillary Clinton\’s world-class negligence, it was George Bush who, at that time, was finishing his fourth year of retirement.  Could this be any dumber?  Even the low-information crowd should be insulted.

As Harry Truman oncesaid of the American presidency, the buck stops here. And that\’s Hardball fornow. Thanks for being with us. Uh…if you\’re blaming a President who was out of office for years, instead of the current Secretary of State, you are not saying the buck stops here.  You are saying the buck stops there…or anywhere other than your love, Hillary Clinton.

There you have it.

Not for nothing do I call him Chrazy Chris.
