DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ\’S VIEW ON WHAT A HUMAN BEING IS

Ken Berwitz

The following verbatim transcript is from a Q&A between Media Research Center\’s Brittany Hughes, and DNC Chair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, just after Tuesday\’s Presidential Debate:

MRC TV: You have three children, correct?

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: I do.

MRC TV: How old are they?

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: I have twin 16-year-olds and a 12-year-old.

MRC TV: In your opinion, were they human beings before they were born?

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: You know, I believe that every woman has the right to make their own reproductive choices.

MRC TV: But what did you believe about your children?

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: That I had the right to make my own reproductive choices, which I was glad to have and which I was proud to have.

MRC TV: So were they human beings? Just yes or no.

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: They\’re human beings today, and I\’m glad I had the opportunity to make my own reproductive choices, as – a right that every woman has and should maintain.

No answer to the question.  Just hiding behind a slogan.

Here\’s another question for Ms. Wasserman Schultz she won\’t be answering:  if entity in a woman\’s womb has developed to the point where it is a functioning human being – i.e. it is physically formed, has a beating heart and brain activity – then isn\’t there another human being involved in this decision – actually a lot more involved than the woman carrying it?

If that is a live baby, a woman is not just making a choice, -like which handbag to take to work today, or which brand of coffee to buy.  Her choice is either to allow her own child to live, or to kill her child.

Don\’t expect the repulsive Debbie Wasserman Schultz, or her like-minded pals, to deal with such questions.  Not when their idea of enlightened conversation is dismissively tossing off slogans,  without ever considering the issue of humanity.
