Israel has entered Rafaj. It has seized control of the Rafaj border crossing.
This accomplishes several things.
One, obviously, is that Israel now has a military presence in Rajaj, the last part of Gaza that was controlled by hamas.
Another is that it gives Israel the opportunity to finally remove hamas from power.
And a third – which may well be the single most important from a PR perspective – is that, by controlling the crossing, Israel also controls the movement of desperately needed food and other supplies into Gaza.
If Israel allows those supplies in (which I assume it will) and insures they go to the general population (which I assume it will) – instead of being stolen by hamas and sold to that population for huge profits -to fuel the hamas war machine (and line the deep pockets of its billionaire leaders)…
…you may well see a very different attitude toward Israel on the part of some of those people. Maybe even the largely compromised, hamas-supporting UN.
Stay tuned. This could well be the most decisive – and beneficial – part of Israel’s military operation.
