Over the last few months, I have written a number of blogs chronicling the love affair most mainstream media have with Hillary Clinton. But I\’m far from the only one who has noticed.
In June, Comcast executivevice president David Cohen hosted a $2,700-a-plate fundraiser for HillaryClinton\’s presidential campaign. On the first weekend in October, the NBCUniversal in-kind contributions really kicked in: a star turn on Saturday NightLive, a Sunday morning interview with Rev. Al Sharpton, and a Monday town-hallmeeting on the Today program.
The Daily Beast was blunt in a headline: “Saturday Night Live Premiere Basically a Hillary Clinton Campaign Ad.” WriterKevin Fallon documented how the aid and comfort for Mrs. Clinton wasn’t just inthe skit where she played a bartender to the show\’s Hillary impersonator.
Theshow began with a spoof of Mr. And Mrs. Donald Trump, with the satiricalmessage “Melania\’s praise of her husband\’s presidential bona fidessurreptitiously illuminates the lunacy of his candidacy.” Then came a fakecommercial which “continued the damnation of the Republican presidentialcandidates, advertising Abilify, the drug for people who think they can bepresident.”
Later, the fake newscast “took aim not just at the GOP field, butat Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden as well, all in the pursuit of shaming viewersthrough comedy. The seeming moral of the punchlines: Can anyone sane reallyvote for anyone but Hillary?”
The Democrats have an overwhelming advantage onlate-night comedy shows and other non-news shows, from “The View” to MTV to BETto Comedy Central. Comcast is just getting the softball rolling.
Add to this the determined cover-up of damning evidence regarding how big-time contributors to The Clinton Foundation got their money\’s worth, and the dearth of emails made available around the time of the Benghazi massacre, and an even clearer picture comes into focus.
Ironically, media\’s ongoing coverage of the one scandal that Ms. Clinton can\’t seem to shake – the email scandal (not just Benghazi) – is entirely of her own doing.
By providing tens of thousands of emails – on paper, not on computer (which probably gave the Clinton people a great laugh when they did it), Ms. Clinton insured that the contents of those emails would have to be reviewed over an extended period of time…and their contents would be dribbled and drabbed out for months. That is why media could not have buried this story even if they wanted to.
And now that the emails on those “wiped” servers appear to be retrievable, thus the emails during Benghazi might actually re-emerge…..well, you can do your own speculating on that. Let it suffice to say that nothing good is going to come of this for Ms. Clinton.
Much of the mainstream media, at one time, were telling us that Hillary Clinton\’s candidacy was “inevitable”. I wonder how long it will be before they start talking about if and when her campaign will end (for the record, I would not be surprised if there were an eventual statement that Ms. Clinton is leaving the campaign only for reasons of health).
I wonder if she\’ll even make it to the first primary.
