Remember baghdad bob (real name: mohammed saeed al-sahhaf)?
He was the Minister of Information during the United States’ invasion of Iraq in 2003 – the guy who made one preposterous claim after another about Iraq’s “success” during that war – including a claim, on TV, that US tanks had not reached Baghdad…when they could be seen and heard in the distance.
Well, it seems that Iran has its own version of baghdad bob: baloney salami (real name: hossein salami): the Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
Here is salami’s baloney “assessment” of how Iran made out in its attack on Israel – an attack of something like 300 drones/missiles – which resulted in about 99% intercepted by Israeli/US/Jordanian/Saudia Arabian/UAE forces and few that landed doing minor damage and, sadly, critically injuring one child, but no one else:
“Our information on all of the hits is not complete yet but on that part of the hits that we have accurate, documented, and field-related reports show that this operation has been carried out with a success that exceeded the expectation.”
This “exceeded the expectation”??? What did they expect? 100% of the missiles intercepted and no damage or casualties?
I assume baloney salami’s assessment is going to thrill every “Death to Israel/Death To America” zealot in Tehran who relies on state-run media for information.
As for anyone who gets information from other sources? I’m pretty sure most of us see baghdad bob (who is still alive, by the way; he’s 83 years old) as baloney salami’s soul brother.
May they lie (and by “lie”, I don’t mean a physical position) together in laughable infamy.
