THE MOST IDIOTIC COMMENTS OF THE YEAR (SO FAR)

It’s just early April, so there’s a long way to go until December 31.  But, at least so far, these comments win hands-down.

Maya Mikdashi is an Associate Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and a Lecturer in the Program for Middle East Studies at Rutgers University, New Jersey.  Nadine Naber is a Professor in the Gender and Women’s Studies Program, the Global Asian Studies Program, and the Department of Anthropology at the University of Illinois Chicago.

Silly me, I would assume these two would be a bit apprehensive about aligning with a fundamentalist Islamic group that overtly supports genocide…like, for example hamas, which is committed to kill every Jew on earth (not just Israelis), and which, like its fatah counterparts in Judea and Samaria (aka the west bank), considers homosexuality a capital offense.

Uh…..forget it. My bad.

From Lindsay Kornick’s  article for foxnews.com:

Describing Hamas’ brutalization of LGBTQ Palestinians needs to be labeled “homophobic violence,” university professors suggested at an event last month.

Associate Professor Maya Mikdashi took part in a discussion at the school titled “Palestine is a Feminist and Queer Anti-Imperialist Abolition Struggle” with University of Illinois professor Nadine Naber on March 20. During the event, Mikdashi pushed back on the complaint that Palestinians and Hamas mistreat LGBTQ citizens, claiming that the assertion itself is a form of bigotry.

“So I’ve been at protests where I’m then told, ‘Don’t you know what Hamas would do to you, if you were in Palestine.’ And we have to start naming this, actually, as homophobic,” Mikdashi said, as Naber vocally agreed. “You cannot rehearse violence to queer people and be like, ‘don’t you know … A, B, you would be…’ in really excruciating detail. I think we have to actually shift it.”

“It’s violence,” an audience member said.

“It’s homophobic. It’s violent,” Mikdashi agreed.

“Homophobic violence,” Naber affirmed.

Hard to believe though it is, these two not only look the other way at treatment of LGBTQ (I apologize if I left out a letter or two) people in Islamic “Palestine”— but call the people who make note of it “homophobic” and “violent”.

Put another way, in the bizarro world of these two geniuses, the people who would kill you for being gay are absolved, and the people who point out that they would kill you for being gay are condemned.

If these aren’t the most idiotic comments of the year, find me the ones that are.  I can’t wait to see them.
