Today’s quote comes to us from President Joe Biden.
During his scripted, yell-a-thon campaign attack speech – the one that was supposed to have been a State Of The Union address, Biden was shamed into mentioning the name Laken Riley – the young woman brutally killed by an illegal alien, whom he had ignored until that moment.
When he was literally called out to say her name by Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene, this is what Biden said:
“Lincoln Riley, an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal. That’s right. But how many thousands of people being killed by legals? To her parents, I say, my heart goes out to you, having lost children myself. I understand.”
Nice of him to grudgingly mention her – misstating her name (it wasn’t in his script so he was lost) and then turning it into a sympathy-grabbing attempt for himself.
In any event, that is not the quote of the day.
The quote of the day is from Biden’s interview with Jonathan Capehart on MSNBC yesterday (what – did you think he’d ever subject himself to a serious interview from someone who would ask hard questions?).
Here is what he said about the comment referenced above:
“An undocumented person. I shouldn’t have used illegal, it’s undocumented.
“I’m not going to treat any, any, any of these people with disrespect. Look, they built the country.”
Let’s start with the fact – FACT – that the term “illegal” is not only 100% correct – they came across our border illegally because you let them, Mr. President – but that the terminology has, for many years, been incorporated into our legal structure. The fact that the “woke” crowd which now seems to own your political party doesn’t like it notwithstanding.
And now, please tell me how illegals “built our country”.
If you’re talking about the people who came from other countries LEGALLY and built our country that would be one thing. But claiming the 8 – 10 million (no one knows how many for sure) that you have opened our borders and allowed to come in – while first pretending the border was secure and now pretending the border surge is Republicans’ fault, not yours – haven’t built a thing. What they have done is lowered wages for low-end workers (because they’ll take even less), while being handed resources which could have been used for needy legals (which is one of the reasons Blacks and Latinos, both minorities with a good many such workers, are running from you).
I award Joe Biden Quote Of The Day (dis)honors for ignoring Laken Riley’s name, then getting it wrong, then turning her death into a pity party for him personally…
…and then apologizing for calling her killer what he is; an illegal.
It was disgusting.
And one more thing: anyone who thinks that, just because they pumped him up for one obnoxious loudmouth speech (quite possibly by giving him uppers), this shell of what little he was in the first place can get through a political campaign without his puppeteers finding ways/making excuse after excuse to hide him from the public, needs to think harder. A lot harder.
