I would say you can’t make this stuff up. But since, for the most part Democrats are making it up, in a desperate, panicked attempt to distract us from the findings of Robert Hur’s report, I won’t – can’t do so.
Here is the beginning of Jonathan Lemire and Sam Stein’s article, at the decidedly liberal/pro-Democrat politico.com website:
White House frustration with Garland grows
Joe Biden has told aides and outside advisers that Attorney General Merrick Garland did not do enough to rein in a special counsel report stating that the president had diminished mental faculties, according to two people close to the president, as White House frustration with the head of the Justice Department grows.
The report from special counsel Robert Hur ultimately cleared Biden of any charges stemming from his handling of classified documents that were found at Biden’s think tank and his home. But Hur’s explanation for not bringing charges — that Biden would have persuaded the jury that he was a forgetful old man — upended the presidential campaign and infuriated the White House.
Biden and his closest advisers believe Hur went well beyond his purview and was gratuitous and misleading in his descriptions, according to those two people, who were granted anonymity to speak freely. And they put part of the blame on Garland, who they say should have demanded edits to Hur’s report, including around the descriptions of Biden’s faltering memory.
Let’s think about this.
First of all, Merrick Garland is no Republican and no Biden-backbiter. He is a true Blue Democrat – Barack Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court, you might remember – who, I am certain, would not release this report unless he felt he had to.
Next, let’s look at that fascinating, actually comical if it weren’t so journalistically pathetic, dance in the second paragraph: can someone explain to me how, if “Robert Hur ultimately cleared Biden of any charges”, it makes any sense that “Hur’s explanation for not bringing charges — that Biden would have persuaded the jury that he was a forgetful old man…”?
Here’s the news, guys. If Hur cleared Biden of any charges, the only reason for not bringing charges is that he is not guilty of them. If Hur’s explanation for not bringing charges is that Biden would come across as a forgetful old man, it’s not that he is innocent, it’s that a jury would take pity on a doddering geriatric and not convict him. You can’t have it both ways.
And then there is that word “gratuitous” – which I must have heard from almost a dozen Democrats on the various news shows since this report came out (i.e. the marching orders were issued to use it early and often). Is it “gratuitous” for Robert Hur to express his opinion on Biden’s condition and its implications for whether he should be charged/would be convicted? Isn’t that intrinsic to what Hur was investigating?
I don’t remember which Democrat pundit said it, but somewhere in the last two days one of them pointed out, ruefully, that Hur’s assessment was not just an attack on Joe Biden’s competency, it was a confirmation of what people were already thinking about Biden’s competency (as shown by several different polls from diverse sources). And, unlike a new charge that can be attacked/disputed, a confirmation of what people are already thinking pretty much sets it in stone.
Can Biden get out from under this 1,000 pound rock? Yes – if he can be shown over and over again in the next few weeks vibrantly moving around, speaking sharply, to the point and intelligently without stumbling or making factual errors, etc.
But the problem is that Biden – let’s be honest – is not in any way capable of doing that. So all the Biden people can do is try to hide him, while yelping that he’s just fine, no mental acuity problems at all – as he cowers in his Rehoboth, Delaware hideaway.
Can that work? In a word, no.
This looks for all the world like an end game.
Hello, Kamala? Gavin? Maybe Michelle (though reports are she wants no part of any presidential run)? Reality is calling…..
Now, what do Republicans do about Donald Trump?
