HEZBOLLAH’S DEFINITION OF EXPANDING A WAR

On October 7 hamas attacked Israel, killing about 1,400* people – most of them innocent civilians – and taking about 240 hostages.

When Israel declared (acknowledged the existence of is more like it) war on hamas, thus Gaza, hezbollah – hamas’ pals in south Lebanon – increased their (ongoing) attacks on Israel, and have continued the heavier attack status to this day.

Israel, not surprisingly, is hitting hezbollah back.

With the above in mind, please read this excerpt from an unbylined article at Reuters:

Hezbollah attacked an Israeli army base with explosive drones deployed from Lebanon on Tuesday, hitting the position for the first time in what the Iran-backed group declared part of its response to recent Israeli assassinations in Lebanon.

Also on Tuesday, an Israeli attack killed three Hezbollah fighters in south Lebanon, sources familiar with the group’s operations said, adding to the death toll among its forces from more than three months of hostilities with Israel.

Israel and Hezbollah have been waging their deadliest hostilities in 17 years since the Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked Israel from Gaza on Oct. 7.

The violence has forced tens of thousands of people to flee both sides of the Lebanon-Israel border and raised fears the conflict could spiral.

Hezbollah deputy leader Naim Qassem, in a televised speech, said his group did not want to expand the war from Lebanon, “but if Israel expands (it), the response is inevitable to the maximum extent required to deter Israel”.

Fascinating.  hamas attacks and hezbollah attacks:  no problem, business as usual.  Israel retaliates:  that is an expansion of the war.

See, if Israel just allowed hezbollah to continue attacking without retaliating, things would be just fine.  No “expansion” at all.  How dare those Israeli warmongers for fighting back.

This is what Israel deals with.  These are the people it is supposed to negotiate peace with.

How?

*Due to conflicting reports, until now I’ve been describing the death total at 1,200 to 1,400.  But most of what I read puts it at the higher total, so that’s what I’ll be citing from now on.
