What do you get when you combine an enormously high ego and an enormously big mouth?
Think Donald Trump.
Here from his interview with breitbart.com people on Thursday, is what he had to say about economic prospects if he doesn’t win the 2024 election:
“I think if I don’t win, we’re going to have a depression like 1929. I think the reason the stock market is up is because if you look at the polls, people say I’m going to win. Biden is getting lucky in that regard. I had a phenomenal stock market. Everything was good about our economy. We had no inflation.”
Got that? The only reason the stock market is at an all-time high is that “people say I’m going to win” – i. e. a number of the polls, almost one year before the election, put him a couple of percentage points ahead of Joe Biden. It has nothing to do with anything else.
And if he doesn’t win? Get ready for the next great depression. Only a Trump victory can save us.
I don’t think Donald Trump is a stupid man. But that combination of ego and mouth causes him to say things so stupid that it’s hard to believe otherwise.
And don’t expect this ever to change. A lower ego and less of a big mouth are not in his DNA.
How I wish he would just go away.
