Today’s quote comes to us from Chicago’s Mayor, Brandon Johnson, who is a Democrat (of course he’s a Democrat; there hasn’t been a Republican Mayor of Chicago since 1931).
Friday, on CNN, this is what Mayor Johnson had to say about Texas Governor Greg Abbott sending some of the millions and millions of illegals Democrat President Joe Biden is allowing to cross our southern border and enter the country into Chicago:
“[W]e have infrastructure in our local communities that [is] not designed to carry such a burden. Local municipalities are not structured to be able to carry the weight of a crisis like this. And I’ve sent a delegation to the border to see firsthand what our bordering cities are experiencing, and what we have said repeatedly is that there has to be better coordination. And without a coordinated operation, this is going to crush local economies, because there is a financial responsibility that we have all taken on. And look, the bottom line is this — at least for my experiences — is that we have a Governor in Texas that is governing out of fear.”
A few questions for Mayor Johnson:
-Who opened this border wide, for illegals to stream in by the millions? Greg Abbott?
-Hasn’t Chicago proudly declared itself a “sanctuary city” for illegals….which seemed to be just fine until Chicago had to actually deal with them?
-Counting known illegals (3.8 million) and “gotaways” (about 1.7 million) about 5.5 million illegals have come into the United States under Joe Biden. Chicago, with a little less than 1% of the United States population, (2.7 million out of 331 million), has been sent a little less than 1/2 of 1% of them (about 26,000). If Chicago is a “sanctuary city”, and you’ve gotten only about one-half your share of the illegals you support sanctuary for, what is your problem?
-What did you expect? That border states like Texas and Arizona would simply absorb these millions of illegals, while cities like Chicago, New York, etc. could proudly hail their “sanctuary city” status without having to provide the sanctuary?
-If Texas Governor Greg Abbott is “governing out of fear” by sending some of the illegals to places like Chicago, is President Joe Biden “governing out of fear” by allowing them in?
I award Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Quote Of The Day honors for showing us again, as he has continually on this issue, what a complete hypocrite he is…and, more generally, how people like him change their tune when NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) becomes IMBY (IN My Back Yard).
