Today’s quote comes to us from Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Speaking at today’s weekly cabinet meeting, Mr. Netanyahu said this:
“The fighting in the Gaza Strip continues with greater intensity to achieve all its goals – the elimination of Hamas, the return of all our hostages, and the promise that Gaza will never again be a threat to Israel.
“In the last two days, I spoke with [German] Chancellor Scholz, with French President Macron, and with other leaders, and I told them that it is impossible to support the elimination of Hamas with one hand and pressure us to end the war with the other hand. Justice is on our side.”
hamas is a terrorist organization. An unelected “government” in full charge of Gaza (the last elections were held 17 years ago; there have been none since).
hamas is the terrorist organization which invaded Israel on October 7th and slaughtered 1,200 – 1,400 innocent civilians.
hamas is the terrorist organization whose leaders are telling the world, in so many words, that it fully intends to do this again and again.
What, exactly, is Israel supposed to do? Stop trying to take out hamas, thus giving it the opportunity to make good on its promise to kill as many Israelis as possible…and its promise, via the hamas covenant, to obliterate Israel and kill all Jews everywhere, not just in Israel?
Is Israel supposed to protect the Gazan civilians hamas has put in harm’s way so, hamas can continue to slaughter Israeli civilians?
That is not going to happen. Even if the doddering Joe Biden decides he is a military expert and tells Israel that’s what it should do.
I award Benjamin Netanyahu Quote Of The Day honors for stating the simple truth about what has to be done. And I only hope the leaders he has stated this simple truth to a) understand it and b) put aside politics (there are a great many more Islamists in the world than Jews) to support him.
