One of my sons spent a year at Boson University, before transferring to a different school.
The fact that Boston University employs ibram x. (xolani) kendi as its Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities makes me wish I could get my tuition money back.
Why? Well, how about this overtly racist vomit spewed by kendi during his comments at a special screening for his new Netflix doc, “Stamped From The Beginning” (which, given his racist hatred, I have no intention of watching):
“I don’t think White people worldwide have really reckoned with how much their own personal identity is shaped by constructions of whiteness, and how much that construction of whiteness prevents White people from connecting with humanity,”
“It’s whiteness that prevents that. When you’re not able to see yourself in other human beings, that creates all sorts of problems. But not just societal problems, but personal problems, that I think hopefully this film and this work will liberate those folks from. It’s liberating all the way around. I think it will liberate all of us because we’ve all been told a lie about ourselves and other people.”
Got that? If you have White skin, ibram x. kendi knows all about you, and what he knows is that you, White person, don’t connect with humanity – presumably unlike we non-White people who, unlike you, do.
It should be noted that, according to David Ng’s account of this racist vomit at breitbart.com, the audience applauded.
Are they proud of being as racist as kendi is? Evidently they are.
Now: how about you? Do you think skin color defines people the way ibram x. kendi (birth name: ibram henry rogers) does?
Would you, for example, be comfortable with someone telling you what he/she knows about all Black people, based on their skin color?
And, if not, WHY not? Do you reject this person’s claims because you know that people are individuals, and skin color, in and of itself, doesn’t tell you squat about them?
If so, congratulations. You have a functioning cerebrum.
May ibram x. kendi – and each of the people who applauded his comments – someday grow one.
