REAL RACISM (CONT.)

I suggest you don’t eat or drink before reading this latest installment of the Real Racism series.  Because you might have to fight to keep from expelling your intake out of astonishment and disgust.

From Alex Newman’s article at harbingersdaily.com, we have this throwback to the Jim Crow South:

Under the guise of closing the “achievement gap” between students of European ancestry and those of African and Latino heritage, victims of a government school in Illinois are being put into classes segregated by race. Yes, really. Apparently, “education” officials believe eliminating all white students from class will help non-whites perform better, or so they say.

The explosive scandal, first exposed by the Wall Street Journal over the weekend under the headline “To Shrink Learning Gap, This District Offers Classes Separated by Race,” involves the Evanston Township Highschool in Evanston, Illinois. Lawyers for the district north of Chicago claim that because the white-free classes are optional, laws forbidding segregation and racial discrimination do not apply.

According to the Journal, almost 200 black and latino students have already signed up for the so-called “affinity” classes this year, with no whites allowed. White teachers are also barred from teaching the classes, with school district leaders claiming the non-white students feel “more comfortable” without having to be in the presence of students lacking sufficient melanin.

Do you believe this?  I didn’t – until I checked the Wall Street Journal link, and found out Mr. Newman has his facts dead-on correct.

So let me get this straight:  At the Evanston Township (IL) High School, Black and Latino students (not White students) can opt for segregated classes – no Whites allowed – which would be taught exclusively by non-White teachers – no Whites allowed.

Why?  Because not having White students in the class – i.e. students who, comparatively, do better than they do – will help them perform better.

So let’s see:  Black students are allowed to be overtly racis…..oh, wait, it’s not racist because the White-free classes are optional (no option for Whites, of course, but that doesn’t count).  That’s supposed to make everything just fine.

As for Whites?  They can’t opt for all-White classes; see, they’re the wrong race so they don’t get that choice.

On the other hand, there will be 200 or so fewer Black students in their classes.  So while they have nothing to do with the racial makeup, their classes will be significantly more segregated.

But, we are told, there is a positive result here.  By separating less successful (Black and Latino) students from more successful (White) students, the Black and Latino students will learn more effectively.

And why would that be?  These students are still who they are.  Their learning capabilities, whether strong or weak, will not change because they’ve self-segregated.

Or is the real idea here to lower the standards for no-Whites-need-apply classes, and grade more generously?  I.e. to create the illusion that these students are doing better because, albeit less learning is taking place, the grades will look the same?

If I were betting, my bet would be on the lower standards.  In other words, my bet would be on the school treating Black and Latino students as lesser beings, who should be expected to do less well because of who they are.  But since they are getting the same grades it looks – looks – like they’re doing as well.  See, Evanston Township High School has solved the racial learning gap!!

Does it get more disgusting, or insulting to minority students, than that?

Here’s a question worth considering:  what do you think a member of the Ku Klux Klan would say about this?

Maybe something like “well, it’s a good start”?

Real racism.  It can come in any form from any source.  And that certainly includes a supposedly progressive high school that thinks it can solve racism by creating more of it.

Welcome to the Evanston, Illinois version of 1935 Mississippi.
