THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from a rich source of quotable (not intelligent or insightful, but quotable) material, Biden Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

In yesterday’s briefing she was asked about the rise in anti-Semitism in the United States – especially since the hamas terror attack and Israel’s response.  And this is the start of her answer:

“So a couple of things. Look, we have not seen any credible threats. I know there’s been always questions about credible threats. And so just want to make sure that that’s out there. But look, Muslims and those perceived to be Muslim have endured a disproportionate number of hate-fueled attacks…”

Then, possibly realizing that she used the question to exclude Jews and instead sympathize with Muslims, she also said how she answered that President Biden directed the Department of Homeland Security:

“…to prioritize prevention and disruption of any emerging threats that could harm the Jewish, the Muslim, Arab Americans or any other communities.”

Even there, it wasn’t specific to anti-Semitism, just a general “everyone should be protected” line.  In other words, entirely non-responsive to the specific anti-Semitism being asked about.

This is equivalent to Jean-Pierre reacting to an assault by racists on Black children by saying that “of course, White children are often mistreated too, so we are in favor of fair treatment for everyone”.  In other words, sanitized pap, apropos of nothing.

I award Karine Jean-Pierre Quote Of The Day (dis)honors for making good and damn sure that Jews in the United States understand that, when they are singled out negatively, assurances of concern for them are not.
