Today’s quote comes to us from Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), ranking member of the House Oversight Committee.
During today’s impeachment inquiry, Rep. Raskin referred to an interaction between then-President Trump and Ukraine President Zelensky. Specifically:
“…the infamous phone call that then-President [Donald] Trump made to Ukrainian President [Volodymyr] Zelensky, in which Trump threatened to withhold hundreds of billions of dollars in economic, strategic, and military security assistance to Ukraine unless Zelensky embraced their ridiculous fabrication and falsely advertised to the world that Ukraine was investigating Joe Biden.”
That claim is a lie. Period.
Here is the full transcript. Read it and try to find any such threat. You can’t, because it isn’t there. And when President Zelensky was asked about this, he stated, in so many words, that the call did not cause him to feel threatened or coerced to engage in a quid pro quo of any kind.
But don’t expect Rep. Raskin to talk about the real quid pro quo. The actual video of Joe Biden telling us, specifically and unequivocally, that he threatened to withhold $1 billion dollars in aid to The Ukraine unless the prosecutor who was investigating Burisma – a dirtier-than-dirty Ukraine energy company paying his son hunter $1,000,000 a year to be on its Board Of Directors despite having no qualifications in the energy industry and no actual duties – was fired.
Want to see it? Here you go:
No doubt about that quid pro quo demand, is there?
I award Jamie Raskin Quote Of The Day “honors” for maintaining his status as the devoid of integrity loud-mouthed liar I have always found him to be…a status he has so completely reinforced today.
