Today’s quote comes to us from that stalwart defender of all that is fair and good (in his own mind), Rob Reiner.
The latest declaration from Mr. Reiner, a successful Hollywood actor and Director, via Twitter (now X), is this assessment of the United States’ future:
“Hard Reality: For our Democracy to survive, two things have to happen. Donald Trump needs to be Convicted for Jan. 6th and there can be no Third Party Candidate.”
Translation: the only way for democracy to survive is…
…to jail Joe Biden’s most formidable opponent, Donald Trump, for January 6th 2020 (what, exactly, did Trump do on that date, other than make an impassioned speech, during which he said “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” ), and…
…with Trump gone, to eliminate every remaining candidate other than his hero Biden and, based on the polls, a second-choice Republican whom, I assume, Reiner would expect to lose the election.
In other words, the only way Rob Reiner sees for Democracy to survive is to fix the election so his guy wins and no one else has a realistic chance.
I award Rob Reiner Quote Of The Day “honors” for proving that, although he was wrong on many things, the countless times Archie Bunker called Reiner’s character “meathead” on All In The Family, he had it 100% correct.
