All congratulations to our brave delta forces, which carried out an extremely risky operation to kill abu sayyaf, a senior member of ISIS and – it would be hard to overstate the importance of this – its chief financial operative.
And all credit to President Obama for okaying this operation, which required him to ignore his standing promise to the left that there would be no U.S. boots on the ground. This time they were necessary, and this time he allowed the reality of battle to win out over making nice to people who, all too often, seem happy when we are losing rather than winning.
Personally, I don\’t want to see our boots on the ground any more than Mr. Obama does. But when it has to be, it has to be. This was one of those times, and – though things certainly could have gone in a different direction – it worked perfectly.
