THE PARAGRAPH OF THE DAY

The Paragraph Of The Day comes to us from Michael S. Schmidt\’s article in today\’s New York Times, which talks about the 300 Benghazi-related emails Hillary Clinton has turned over to the House Oversight Committee.

Here is Mr. Schmidt\’s conclusion:

They provided no evidence that Mrs. Clinton, as the most incendiary Republican attacks have suggested, issued a “stand down” order to halt American forces responding to the violence in Benghazi, or took part in a broad cover-up of the administration\’s response, according to senior American officials.

That so, Mr. Schmidt.  That\’s quite an exculpatory finding you have there…

except…

What about the emails Hillary Clinton may not have turned over?  What about the emails she deleted….which, we are supposed to take on faith were unimportant and not worth seeing.

Is it just possible that, with Hillary Clinton using her own email resource rather than the governments, any embarrassing emails – oh, I don\’t know, maybe relating to things like a “stand down” order or a broad cover-up, for example – were sent to the “delete” file and out the other end?

And is it just possible that the reason for Ms. Clinton\’s aversion to making her server available is that she knows it might be able to retrieve those emails if they exist?

I\’m not sure if Michael S. Schmidt is proactively running cover for Hillary Clinton (it\’s not like that doesn\’t happen), or is just so naive that he doesn\’t realize there may be more on that server than what Ms. Clinton is spoon-feeding to the authorities.  But, either reason – take your pick – will win him Paragraph Of The Day honors.

Let me end by asking Mr. Schmidt:  Why do you think she does not want to make that server available to the committee?  Because it doesn\’t contain anything that might hurt her politically?
