Silly me. I thought Barack Obama spent over 6 years as President blaming every economic failure on George Bush (while taking full credit for every “success”, few and modest though they have been).
But apparently I was wrong No less an authority than President Obama has told me so.
During a town hall meeting at Cleveland\’s City Club today, Mr. Obama was asked what, if anything, he would do differently if he had a chance.
With an economy that, over his 6 years, has “improved” from abysmal to stagnant – not to mention a raft of foreign policy failures and a country more racially divided than at any time since the \’60\’s – this was his answer, which I pulled from Pam Key\’s article at breitbart.com:
“I would have told myself to anticipate because the recession was so bad and so tough for so many people, that I was going to have to be more aggressive in explaining to the public how long it was going to take for the recovery to take place.
“Although this is the challenge we had when we first came in, when FDR came in during the Great Depression, it had been so bad for two three years that everybody understood – OK we are kinda bottomed out – so he could come and propose – OK here is what we are going to do – and there was huge support because there had already been a track record of failure by the previous administration. When we came in, things were crashing but it hadn\’t yet shown up in the statistics. It would take another eight, nine months, a year, before things bottomed out.
“I think people were nervous, and they were scared the stock market was plummeting, but people didn\’t know the depths of how many jobs we were losing per month and so forth. I think that I might have done a better job at preparing people so they sort of knew what was coming.”
That is jaw-dropping.
First off, as mentioned at the beginning of this blog, President Obama has done nothing but blame George Bush for the economy – not just since he took office, but during his entire 2008 campaign. He literally ran on the bad economy. So suggesting that he did not aggressively advise the public that – as you would expect from Barack Obama – it was all the other guy\’s fault is a flat-out lie.
Then there is this constant BS about comparing what he faced with what Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) faced. “The Great Recession”, he and other Democrats have incessantly called it.
Well here\’s the news. When Barack Obama took office, unemployment was at 7.8%. When FDR took office unemployment was at 23.6%. Does that look comparable to you?
And, as regards the plummeting stock market, perhaps Barack Obama has heard of the Crash of \’29. The market lost 25% of its total value in two days. Did that happen during the Bush presidency? Anything even remotely close? Because if it did, and that was what Mr. Obama faced, I sure don\’t remember it.
I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
Yes, Barack, we get it. No one knows what you went through. You have endured unbelievable adversities. You have overcome them all and prevailed. You are a GOD.
Why, without you unemployment would have jumped over 10%, we\’d have had trillion dollar plus deficits year after year, our foreign policy would have suffered disaster after disaster and our prestige in the world would have plummete………………oh, wait.
