Barack Obama is my President, and he is missing a verse, so I think I\’m going to help him out.

He says that ISIS (actually he says ISIL, but no one else does), al-qaeda, etc. are perversions of Islam

That\’s where the missing verse comes in. 

They are not perversions of Islam, they are perverse versions of Islam.  And there is a big difference.

A perversion of Islam implies that what groups like ISIS and al qaeda do (along with boko haram, the taliban , hamas, hezbollah, etc.) has nothing to do with the Koran/Islamic teaching. 

But that is not true.  Those groups practice perverse versions of Islam.  What they do is very definitely based on the Koran/Islamic teaching, but perverse in nature compared to other more moderate Islamic  belief systems.

This is not some fine-tuning distinction.  It is the difference between letting Islam off the hook entirely or acknowledging that there are some versions of Islam that are beyond ugly – which there are and which MUST be addressed or we are in for a lot more from them, and in the very near future.

I hope this helps President Obama out.  But I doubt it.
