Jim Clancy – Israel-hating Jim Clancy – has been a mainstay on CNN for 34 years.
Not any more.
The last straw (and before we compliment CNN for its action, remember again that it took 34 years) was when, after a series of tweets back and forth on the Charlie Hebdo attack (which you can read here), Clancy tweeted this to an apparently Jewish critic of his comments:
“Geta grip, junior. It’s my Friday night. You and the Hasbara team needto pick on some cripple on the edge of the \’herd.”
Nice touch, Jim: hitting for the daily double by dropping a personal insult – including a charge that the object of his attack was part of “hasbara” (an Israeli effort to put forth positive information about the country…which Clancy seems to think is a terrible thing to do), and tossing in that “cripple” reference which, I\’ll just bet, thrilled disabled people everywhere.
Currently, we do not know if Clancy\’s abrupt departure is due to him forced out or just plain canned. We may never know.
My attitude? Who cares.
Remember that scene in “Ghostbusters” when Bill Murray convinces the Mayor of New York to get rid of the obnoxious EPA guy? Remember his sarcastic tone as they remove him, when he says “I\’m going to miss that guy”?
That pretty much sums it up for me.
