…..George Bush.
Yep, if you don\’t want to blame those damn Jews for the attacks in France, there is always George Bush – who, as you may be aware, has not been President for 6 years.
The following gems of wisdom come to us from U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT), who graced the Rachel Maddow show last night on (where else?) MSNBC.
Says Murphy (bold print is mine):
“Iclearly think that you\’re seeing a flow of foreign fighters back andforth into Syria and Iraq that\’s presenting real problems and threatsto our allies in Europe and potentially here to the United States. But I thinkit is important just to recognize that the individuals who carriedout these attacks in Paris were originally radicalized not by ISISbut in coordination against the United States\’ invasion andoccupation of Iraq.That\’s what initially brought them into this fight, and it\’sworth repeating thatthose who would call for another insertion of U.S. ground troops tofight ISIS would be essentially repeating thevery mistake that radicalized thousands of Muslimsall across country during our ten-yearoccupationof that country. So I certainly think that ISIS poses a threat to theUnited States and to our allies, but we\’re living with adecade-long mistake in Iraq that radicalized thousands already nomatter whether or not ISIS was present in that region.
Brilliant. Absolutely Brilliant.
See, it was Bush all along. Bush. The guy who, by invading Iraq, let\’s remember, rid the world of saddam Hussein – a “man” who, however much of a mass murdering, warmongering lunatic he was, ran the country as a largely secular state. NOT a shari\’a law state at all. In other words, saddam was not an ally of the Islamic terrorists who attacked in Paris last week, he was their adversary. The only thing they had in common was a taste for killing as many human beings as they could.
But, what the hell. Blame Bush. It\’s worked before, and – for people who don\’t need to think, just to nod agreement – it will work again. Besides, it\’s another way of not blaming radical Islam. It\’s not their fault, they are victims of that terrible George Bush. Yeah, that\’s the ticket.
Beyond pathetic.
And, of course, unchallenged by Rachel Maddow…who comes to us from those wonderful MSNBC folks, who then wonder why their ratings are so far down the toilet (Maddow is their single most-viewed prime time host. Take a look at her numbers and laugh along with me at the designation).
