Today\’s quote comes to us from Sarah Palin, who has been mercilessly attacked over the past several days – most notably by PETA – for posting a picture of her 6 year old son, Trig, using his dog to step up and reach the kitchen sink (the dog doesn\’t seem to mind at all).
Ms. Palin\’s answer:
“Chill. Atleast Trig didn\’t eat the dog.”
I laughed out loud.
In case you don\’t know, this references an admission by President Obama in his book “Dreams From My Father” that he had eaten dog. Mr. Obama\’s exact words were “With Lolo (his stepfather), I learned how to eat small green chili peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy).”
And I laughed again when Ms. Palin pointed out that Ellen DeGeneres, PETA\’s woman of the year for 2009, put up a similar picture on her TV show last July, showing her own daughter doing the same thing – not barefooted like Trig, but while wearing boots (NOTE: in fairness, those may be slippers…but the point remains the same):
Not surprisingly Ms. Palin wondered how PETA felt about that….and I suspect she\’ll be wondering for a long time before she gets an answer.
Look, I certainly can see PETA\’s point here; I, too, could do without Trig using the dog as a stepstool. But the hypocrisy – from PETA and so many others in the “Open Season On Sarah Palin” crowd, which has attacked her non-stop for over 6 years every way they could – is just plain funny.
I award Sarah Palin Quote Of The Day honors, for nailing them good. They deserved a taste of their own medicine, and they got it.
