How do potential cop killers know at least some people are receptive to what they threaten?
Read this excerpt from Josh Saul and Jamie Schram\’s article at nypost.com and you\’ll have your answer:
ABrooklyn judge cut loose a gang member who had postedonline threats to gun down cops in the hours aftertwo NYPD officers were executed in their patrol car – ignoringprosecutors\’ pleas to keep him behind bars, The Post has learned.
CriminalCourt Judge Laura Johnson let Devon Coley, 18, waltz free withoutbail despite the fact that he faces seven years behind bars oncharges he made a terroristic threat – complete with an image of akiller shooting cops in their car – and is awaiting trial in twounrelated cases involving assault and gun possession.
Coleyposted on Facebook a disturbing image of a gunman blasting away at apatrol car, with the phrase “73Nextt” – a reference to the 73rdPrecinct, which covers his Brownsville neighborhood.
Is laura Johnson an idiot? Does she hate the police as much as the potential murderer she set free without bail? Both?
This sorry excuse for a human being is facing two assault and gun possession raps, and has directly threatened the lives of New York City police officers. But that\’s not enough to remand him, or even cause him the inconvenience of seeing a bail bondsman. Not in the eyes of this judicially challenged nitwit who Mayor Bloomberg was so remiss in appointing last year, on his way out of office – and, I hope, so regretful of doing so today.
Dennis Quirk, who heads the state court officers union says “She should resign from the bench. She\’s not fit to be a judge”.
Truer words were never spoken. Because her ruling encourages cop killers everywhere.
If another NYPD officer is killed by someone with the hatred of devon coley – maybe by coley himself, having been empowered by the free pass he was just given – the blood will be on judge laura johnson\’s hands.
I doubt that she will lose one minute\’s sleep over it.
