DE BLASIO NON GRATA (CONT.)

If the head of a police organization called New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio a “total nincompoop” would it be fair to say that relations between the mayor and the police are not as good as they might otherwise be?

Read the beginning of Kirstan Conley, Michael Gartland and Bruce Golding\’s article in today\’s New York Post and see why:

MayorBill de Blasio has again spit in the face of city cops – using theword “allegedly” to describe the viciousmob attack on two NYPD lieutenants, outraged police reps saidSunday.

Bendingover backward to praise the city\’s anti-cop protesters for their”peaceful” behavior – even as some chanted on Saturdaynight, “What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want it? Now!” – the mayor said the attack was “an incident . . . in which a smallgroup of protesters allegedly assaulted some members of the NYPD.”

“Whencops are the accused, the word \’alleged\’ never enters into thediscussion,” fumed Michael Palladino, president of the NYPDDetectives\’ Endowment Association.

EdMullins of the Sergeants Benevolent Association called de Blasio a”total nincompoop” for his handling of the situation.

“Hisactions are contributing to the injuries that are being received bythe NYPD,” Mullins said.

“Maybehe should be out there to take the broken nose for the lieutenant.Ask him if he\’d be willing to stand out there and take the punchesfor the cops,” he added.

I think I\’m safe in assuming you can find a reason or two in there.

Let\’s review:

-Protesters are overtly calling for dead cops.

-Two NYPD lieutenants – on video, let\’s remember – are attacked and injuried by protesters.

-Mayor de Blasio praises the protesters for their peacefulness and describes the attacks as “alleged” – i.e. maybe they happened and maybe they didn\’t – though there is video tape of the incident.

Let me take this opportunity to congratulate the voters of New York City.  You put this man in office.  He is the one you are entrusting your safety and well being to.

Enjoy the next three years.
