Today\’s quote comes to us from the President of the United States, Barack Obama.
On Tuesday night Mr. Obama was in Chicago making a speech about his great accomplishment in effectively granting amnesty to something like 5 million illegal aliens. But, since he did not unilaterally grant full and total amnesty to them, the take-no-prisoners wing of amnesty advocates was there to heckle him.
What a bitter pill that must have been to swallow. President Obama had spent years telling us he had no constitutional authority to change the law. But now, after tortuously contorting logic to pretend that bypassing congress and issuing his executive order was not changing any laws, and giving legal status to millions of illegals, the hardliners were not only unappreciative, they were going after him as though he somehow damaged their cause instead of moving it forward.
Mr. Obama\’s reaction?
“Whatyou\’re not paying attention to is, I just took an action to changethe law”
Uh…what was that Mr. President? Did you just admit, in so many words, that you did exactly, specifically what you spent years telling us was exactly, specifically unconstitutional?
I love the way an article at CNN positions this:
Obama\’sclaim that he “took an action to change the law,” though, could fuel more complaints from congressional Republicans andgovernors in states like Texas who have accused the President ofoverstepping his constitutional bounds.
“Could fuel more complaints” that he overstepped his constitutional bounds? That\’s like saying World War II could fuel speculation that Germans and the allies were not seeing eye to eye on things.
I award President Obama Quote Of The Day honors, for – albeit under duress – directly admitting what all of us should have known already: he is acting outside the constitution and, like a tinhorn dictator, making up laws as he goes along.
Now, what are we going to do about it?
