MSNBC & FERGUSON\’S “COMPELLING IMAGES”

I just put on the TV for a few moments.  Turning to MSNBC, I caught NewsNation, hosted by Tamron Hall, a moment before she went to commercial.  Ms. Hall ended the segment by showing us “some of the more compelling moments” from last night in Ferguson.

What we saw were images of a peaceful march, someone holding a sign saying “End Police Brutality”, people passively laying down in the street to stop traffic, and a makeshift memorial to Michael Brown.

That\’s it.  The end.  Nothing else.

Evidently the gunfire, the rioting, the looting and destruction of stores, and the setting of fires which have consumed most of what used to be Ferguson\’s main shopping street, did not qualify as “compelling”.

People who watched what I did and knew nothing else about last night\’s events, would not have a clue that any of this happened.

I would call this a pathetic joke…but I can\’t. Jokes are supposed to be funny and this was not funny.

Pathetic, yes. Funny, no.

But it is nice to see MSNBC is carrying on its tradition of handling news in such a comprehensive, evenhanded way….
