Today\’s quote comes to us from Stephen Harper, Canada\’s Prime Minister – which is a good reason to envy Canada.
He, along with President Obama (whom I doubt very many Canadians envy us for) is currently attending the G20 conference in Australia.
Mr. Harper was approached, with extended hand, by Russian Dictato er, President Vladimir Putin.
According to the Canadian Broadcasting Company\’s article, Harper had no intention of talking to Putin, but since he was put in a position where he had to say something, he said this:
“Iguess I\’ll shake your hand but I have only one thing to say to you:You need to get out of Ukraine.”
In that one sentence, all of 23 words, Prime Minister Harper showed more honesty and guts than Barack Obama has shown since taking office almost 6 years ago.
By contrast, I have no doubt that Mr. Obama put on his most accommodating grin and had no problem shaking hands with Putin. No problem at all.
