THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from Sean Hannity, a Fox News Channel mainstay for over a decade, and host of the perennially top-rated cable news show in its time slot (10:00PM these days).

Mr. Hannity did not react well to Jon Stewart characterizing him as “probably the most loathsome dude” at Fox News Channel and as someone who serves up news stories “in as devious a manner as it could possibly be presented”.

Here is Hannity\’s response:

“Nearly50 million Americans on food stamps, nearly 50 million in poverty, the lowest labor participation rate since 1978, and Jon\’s belovedpresident who once said George Bush\’s debt was \’irresponsible andunpatriotic\’ has almost accumulated more debt then every otherPresident before him combined.  Do I evenneed to remind him about keeping our doctors, our health plans andsaving money? And howis that healthcare website working out?  Or Iraq, Isis, the\’Russian reset\’?  Jon\’sproblem is he has his head so far up Obama\’s ass he cannot seeclearly, he is obviously better suited to reading his joke writers\’material, and making his clapping seal audience happy”.

Jon Stewart is a highly intelligent guy with a strong comedic delivery and a bunch of really good writers (as a matter of disclosure I met and briefly spoke with one of them some years ago; I found him very likable).  But Stewart also is enormously pompous, with a sky-high ego that could use a take-down every now and again.

I therefore award Sean Hannity Quote Of The Day honors for nailing Stewart in a way that just might prick his pomposity balloon…as opposed to ballooning a pompous pr….well, you get the idea.

Look, it\’s not my business whether these two like or dislike each other. All I\’m saying is that I would pay money to see them stuck for a half hour or so in a stalled elevator.

Wouldn\’t you?
