Terrorism: How is President Obama\’s foreign policy working?
Here\’s a hint, from the first paragraph of Deb Riechmann\’s article for the Associated Press:
Militantleaders from the Islamic State group and al-Qaida gathered at a farmhouse in northern Syria last week and agreed on a plan to stopfighting each other and work together against their opponents, ahigh-level Syrian opposition official and a rebel commander have toldThe Associated Press.
And here, in Ms. Riechmann\’s first sentence of the second paragraph, is the understatement of the year:
Suchan accord could present new difficulties for Washington\’s strategyagainst the IS group.
A reminder: al-qaeda is the terrorist organization President Obama told us, throughout his 2012 re-election campaign, that he had virtually decimated: a lie that may well have pushed him over the top to victory.
Another reminder: ISIS (or ISIL as President Obama prefers to call it – as he prefers to call terrorism “manmade disaster”), is the terrorist organization President Obama ignored – threats without action is the same as ignoring – until it became so big, so powerful, and took over so much land in Syria and Iraq, that, today, it is every bit as strong – arguably, even stronger – than al-qaeda ever was.
And now they have combined forces.
Of all the foreign policy failures, all the foreign policy disasters this impossibly incompetent, inept administration has overseen, the merging of ISIS and al-qaeda may well be the single worst.
I count the seconds until noon, January 20, 2017.
