“THE MOST TRANSPARENT ADMINISTRATION IN HISTORY”: A SUMMARY

Andrew C. McCarthy of nationalreview.com has written an excellent piece, titled “Incompetence Meets Mendacity in Obama\’s Ebola Response”.  I assume you don\’t need me to tell you what it is about.

Within it, Mr. McCarthy summarizes Mr. Obama\’s performance – particularly as it relates to his promise of “the most transparent administration in history”.

The summary is so excellent, and says so much in so few words, that I am posting it below:

Ofcourse you can keep your health coverage, and your doctor. And we\’llcover everyone while your premiums plummet. Meanwhile, al-Qaeda is”decimated” and these Islamic State guys are just the jayveeteam. In fact (fact?),they\’re not even Islamic – although they may not be quite as”secular” as the Muslim Brotherhood. Just extremists. (Extremeabout what?Don\’t ask.) Jihad is just a “purificationof the self” . . . or, at most, “workplaceviolence.” Benghazi? A spontaneous “protest” incited by avideo. The president was not told it was a terroristattack . . . except by the secretary of defenseright after it started – long before he responded by . . . goingto Vegas, where he promptly announced al-Qaeda was “on the path todefeat.” Still, rest assured that the State Department\’s toppriority is the safety of American personnel . . . althoughwe did reduce security in Benghazi after our facility was bombed. Andrest assured that the Justice Department would never ever let gunswalk . . . except for the thousands its Fast andFurious program transferred to violent gangs – who\’ve used themin who knows how many crimes, including the murder of a Border Patrolagent. Still, at least there\’s “not a smidgen of corruption” atthe IRS, where citizens are harassed, evidence keeps disappearing, and the official at the center of it all takes the Fifth to avoidgiving incriminating testimony. No matter. Just take heart that Ebolais not coming to the United States . . . um,well, if it does come there will be no outbreak . . . but,er,if there is an outbreak, we have careful protocols and health-careprofessionals fully trained to deal with it . . . andeven if the protocols don\’t work and the professionals don\’t haveadequate training, we\’ll have a rigorous monitoring program foranyone who is exposed . . . or maybe aself-monitoring program for people who will isolatethemselves . . . unless, of course, we tell themto go ahead and hop on a plane. Well, look, at least we can promisethere won\’t be a “serious” outbreak.

Ifyou say so.

Theshocking competence gap and the cavernous honesty gap – brought toyou by the “most transparent administration in history” – makeour heads spin as we careen from debacle to government-induceddebacle.

My only disagreement with McCarthy is that, though he referenced the Fast and Furious-related murder of a Border Patrol agent (Brian Terry), he omitted the Fast and Furious-related death of customs agent Jaime Zapata.  Mr. Zapata should be mentioned here as well.

There is more.  A lot more.  So I hope you use the link I\’ve provided to read Mr. McCarthy\’s entire piece.  But the above compendium stands by itself.  It is as good a definition of this woeful administration as you are likely to see.
