HOW DEEP IS THEIR HATE

How deep is your love, how deep is your love
How deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
‘Cause we’re living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me

Those terrific lyrics are from the groundbreaking movie, Saturday Night Fever.  They are meant to convey that, sometimes, even people who clearly should be together have fight adversity to achieve that status.

Unfortunately, if you change the word “love” to “hate”, you have a very clear example of this situation in a current event – as shown by the following excerpts from David Rutz’s article for freebeacon.com:

A Washington gay pride parade is banning participants from brandishing Israeli flags, Israeli pride flags, or any “pro-Israel paraphernalia” during its event on Friday.

Yael Horowitz, a Jewish organizer of the D.C. Dyke March, said organizers had decided to ban “nationalist symbols,” including flags and banners that represent “nations that have specific oppressive tendencies.”

Palestinian flags would be allowed, however, the Forward reported. It was unclear if this was a tacit acknowledgment of Palestinians not having a true state. It was also unclear if organizers were aware of the lack of LGBT protections for gay Palestinians, including the illegality of male homosexual conduct in the Gaza Strip.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, who is currently visiting Jerusalem, slammed the decision and noted a similar parade was occurring this week in the Israeli capital, calling it “an event impossible to conceive of in an Arab country or in Iran where they publicly execute gay individuals.”

“For decades gay activists have insisted that there needs to be one standard in pursuit of human rights and human dignity,” Cooper said in a statement to the Free Beacon. “Such hypocrisy by some leaders to treat Jews differently is classic anti-Semitism, will damage the campaigns for equality for all, and should be denounced by LGBTQ activists everywhere.”

It would be hard to overstate the depth of hatred necessary to deny pro-Israeli material in this parade, but allow “Palestinian” flags.

The contrast between Israel’s position on gay and lesbian people (far and away the most accepting, tolerant country in the region) versus the so-called “Palestinian territories” (or, for that matter, any Arab country anywhere) is indisputable and dramatic.  Yet these geniuses give favored status to the “Palestinian Territories”.

To be perfectly clear, if the march had banned materials from all countries and territories, this blog would not have been written, on the grounds that it was a generic, one-size-fits-all policy.

But if Israeli material is banned and “Palestinian” material is allowed?  That’s not policy, that is preference; preference for “territories” that revile gay and lesbian people over a country that allows them freedom and dignity…

…and which just happens to be the one and only Jewish state on planet earth.  What an amazing coincidence.

How deep is their hate?  That deep.

The organizers of this march should hang their heads in shame.
