ISIS – the more-radical-than-radical Islamic faction, continues to lay siege to tens of thousands of Yazidi Kurds who, having fled to a mountain, are trapped with no way to get food or water. It is being reported that President Obama has ordered humanitarian airlifts to keep them alive, and has authorized – but not yet ordered so far as I know – air strikes on ISIS positions.
This is the right thing to do. And I hope Mr. Obama is 100% serious about those air strikes.
ISIS is a lunatic-asylum group which requires conversion to Islam or death, and intends to create a caliphate across the Islamic world.
The scariest part is how quickly ISIS has formed, grown, and taken land across several different countries – a reality which should tell even the most obtuse of us just how much intolerance and hatred is ingrained in a disturbingly large part of the Islamic world.
More moderate Islamic states (in relative terms, that is: some of the states I would include are, by western standards, not moderate at all), suddenly scared out of their minds that the lunatics among them could take over, clearly are looking for the USA to lead the way in doing something about it.
I fervently hope President Obama quickly uses this opportunity to stash his ridiculous “lead from behind” charade, and re-establish the United States as the leader of the free world.
If he does, attacking ISIS will be a critical starting point, because so many lives are at stakes. But it will take one hell of a lot more than a few air strikes to regain the credibility we have lost since he took office.
Now is your moment, Mr. President. For the sake of all our futures, don\’t blow it.

UPDATE: Accordng to multiple news reports, the Navy has commenced bombing ISIS positions. My congratulations to President Obama for absolutely, positively, doing the right thing.
May this be the start of a protracted winning streak for Mr. Obama, the country and the free world.
