As I am sure you are aware, the UN has roundly condemned Israel for its actions in Gaza over the past several weeks.
That being the case, I thought you might be interested in how this same organization approaches condemnation when the issue is not Jews successfully defending themselves.
Excerpted from David Stout\’s article at Time Magazine – in rust, with my comments in blue:
Tens of thousands of Iraqis are trapped on a barren mountain without water or aid. If they descend, they risk being massacred by Sunni militia
Inthe country\’s far northwest, tens of thousands of people fleeing theSunni extremist group Islamic State have been trapped on a mountainfor days without water or other supplies. The refugees, primarilyfrom the country\’s Yazidi religious sect, have begun to die fromdehydration and exposure, with no relief in sight. TheUN must be condemning this radical Islamic group, right?
Theyface an excruciating dilemma – attempt to flee and risk beingcaptured and killed by insurgents, or remain on Mount Sinjar in thehope that aid will somehow get through. Again: The UNmust be condemning this radical Islamic group, right?
“Ahumanitarian tragedy is unfolding in Sinjar,” said NickolayMladenov, special representative of the United NationsSecretary-General for Iraq, in a statementreleased earlier this week. “The Government of Iraq and theKurdistan Regional Government should urgently restore their securitycooperation in dealing with the crisis.” A”gee that\’s too bad” declaration and a suggestion that Iraq andKurdistan should do something about it. No condemnation.
OnTuesday, the United Nations Children\’s Fund (UNICEF) reported thatat least 40 children holed up on the mountain had died as result ofdehydration. Thanks for the update. Where\’sthe condemnation?
“Thesechildren from the Yazidi minority died as a direct consequence ofviolence, displacement and dehydration over the past two days,”said Marzio Babille, a UNICEF representative, in a statement.UNICEF estimates that there are approximately 25,000 children stillstranded in and around Sinjar. Again:Thanks for the update. Where\’s the condemnation?
To summarize: radical Sunni Muslims are in the process of starving tens of thousands of people to death, for no reason other than religious hatred. And the United Nations cannot, and apparently will not, issue any kind of condemnation.
-Just as the UN has not condemned radical Sunnis for the deaths of countless Christians in Iraqi cities like Mosul.
-Just as the UN has not condemned Syrian mass murderer bashar al-assad for the death of an estimated 175,000 or more Syrians over the past several years.
-And just as the UN has not condemned hamas for the firing of thousands of missiles and other ordnance from Gaza into Israel since Israel handed Gaza over to Palestinian Arabs almost a decade ago.
But Israel, having been the target of those attacks, successfully does something about it? NOW there are condemnations.
We live in a world where countless millions have died for reasons of religious and tribal hatred and a variety of other reasons. Yet Israel alone – one country of about 7 million, surrounded by enemies and under daily attack by hamas; a terrorist group committed, in writing, to its annihilation as a religious duty – is the recipient of 47% of all condemnations ever issued by the UN.
If that doesn\’t tell you what you need to know about this pathetic organization, I don\’t know what possibly could.
