Since the current Israel/hamas conflict started, I have been waiting for our wonderful, on-the-ball, media to point out several facts which are indisputable and easy to find.
Since virtually none have done so, I will do it for them. Then I will make a few observations, and end with a question:
First the facts:
-Israel made peace with Egypt in 1979. Since then there have been no attacks by either country on the other.
-Israel made peace with Jordan in 1994. Since then there have been no attacks by either country on the other.
-In the current conflict, attacks on Israel have come only from Gaza, not Judea or Samaria (the west bank). And Israel has hit back at only Gaza, not Judea or Samaria.
Now the observations:
-The above facts prove that Arabs and Israelis are both capable of making peace.
-The above facts prove that Israel, in particular, is willing and able to peacefully co-exist with Arab countries/territories on its border – even if those countries/territories do not like Israel and wish it were gone.
-These facts make it clear that, if hamas were willing to peacefully co-exist with Israel, it would be able to do so.
Finally, a question:
-What has hamas ever done, what action or actions has it ever taken, that indicate it, in any way, is willing to make that peace with Israel?
To our media: I hope this has been helpful. Now, do you think you might inform your viewers/listeners/readers about any of it? Ever?
