CREATIVELY GETTING RID OF MOORE: INSPIRED POLITICS OR CYNICAL END-AROUND

This is either inspired politics or a truly cynical end-around.

The Republican Party, according to Alex Isenstadt and Eliana Johnson’s article at politico.com, is exploring the possibility of…

…convincing appointed Senator Luther Strange (who lost the Republican primary to Roy Moore) to resign his seat…

…thus, Republicans believe, giving Republican Governor Kay Ivey the legal means to call for another special election…

…which would nullify Roy Moore’s candidacy, and Democrat Doug Jones’ candidacy along with it.

If they try this, you can bet it will be legally challenged.

And you can also bet that there will be howls of indignation from Democrats – many of whom had no problem at all years ago when the New Jersey State supreme court ruled that when Democrat Senator Robert Torricelli withdrew his re-election bid in disgrace – past the time he could legally be replaced on the ballot – Frank Lautenberg could replace him on the ballot anyway.

Wouldn’t that be something?

If nothing else it would prove that what goes around really does come around, wouldn’t it?  And you certainly would have to give them points for creativity, wouldn’t you?

I wonder if they’ll try it.  We’ll soon find out.

  • Whether they do this or not, I don’t understand why the Republicans are torpedoing their own candidate. They could just as easily take the route of these accusations are terrible if true and he shouldn’t be a senator if they are true. But still support the rule of law by stating you are innocent until proven guilty in this great country and we have seen this tactic used many times before against men running under the Republican banner that have turned out to be untrue. So until it is proven he did these things he has to be afforded the same rights you and I enjoy.
    Innocent until proven guilty.
    Or something like the above.
