What kind of man is this, an empty shell…: a lyric in the song “What Kind Of Fool Am I”, from the musical “Stop The World, I Want To Get Off”
Barack Obama was 2 years old in 1963, when Anthony Newley won his “Song of the year” Grammy for “What Kind Of Fool Am I”. I wonder if his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham Obama Soetoro, got a copy and held onto it for future reference.
-It remains a virtual certainty that Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down by a Russian weapon – with the greatest likelihood that the carnage was performed by pro-Russian Ukrainian separatists, who, under the auspices of Russian President vladimir putin, have been terrorizing The Ukraine for the past year.
-The ground offensive by Israel into Gaza continues, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu telling us that 18,000 additional troops are being mobilized, thus indicating this is going to be a far more extensive operation than just finding and destroying the underground tunnels being used to transport weaponry to hamas.
-The flood of illegal aliens into the USA continues, with the only reaction of Obama & Co. so far, being to lie to us about how they are going to be deported. You don\’t put imminent deportees on planes and busses, distributing them to cities around the country: that is what you do when you intend for them to stay.
-The IRS scandal continues to fester and grow.
-The VA scandal continues to fester and grow.
-And more. Much, much more.
So, with all this to deal with, how did President Obama spend yesterday evening?
By attending two political fundraisers, where he was guaranteed to receive the warmest of accolades from those fabulously wealthy Democrat supporters who, if you believe Democrat talking points, don\’t even exist – see, only Republicans can afford five-figures-a-plate events, right?
In other words, in the face of all this, President Obama spent an evening completely devoid of value to the country, but immensely ego-boosting to himself. How do we not conclude that dealing with these acts of terrorism and ongoing scandals is secondary to mugging for the cameras, glad-handing the supporters, and, generally, basking in the roar of the crowd.
It is possible that some readers, initially, may not have understood why I started this blog with Anthony Newley\’s great lyric, and the name of the show it came from.
I assume they do now.
