Dinesh D\’Souza is a political commentator, a writer and a filmmaker. A very successful one.
He is also a staunch anti-Obama conservative.
Does that mean staunch leftward Obama-supporting crowd will do what it can to suppress access to Mr. D\’Souza\’s ideas?
I am about to show you two examples of what I am talking about. If you value freedom of speech, and recognize the importance of allowing all voices to be heard, they will be of great interest to you.
The first comes to us from Cheryl K. Chumley\’s article for the Washington Times:
Costcohas suddenly – and according to author DineshD\’Souza, inexplicably – booted his book from stores nationwide, ordering chain operators to clear their shelves of “America:Imagine a World Without Her” by July 15.
Mr.D\’Souza said roughly 3,600 copies of his newest release has soldat Costcoalready, but he has no idea why the chain refuses to sell more.
Mr.D\’Souza also has a movie out by the same name, released just lastweek.
Bothfilm and book look at the damage that progressive-minded politics hasdone to America, with an emphasis on the changes that have occurredunder President Obama\’s administration which Mr.D\’Souza says is steeped in progressive ideology.
FYI: As I write this (about 5:15PM) Amazon lists “America: Imagine a World Without Her” as its #1 best seller. That\’s right, the single best selling book in the country. But off the shelves it goes – no explanation offered.
The second example comes to us from Paul Bond\’s article for Hollywood Reporter:
Lawyersrepresenting Dinesh D\’Souza\’s newest film, America, have firedoff a letter to Google demanding that the search engine correctproblems that they say are hampering the ability of consumers tofigure out where the movie is playing.
The letter claims that Googlehas been confusing America with 2016: Obama\’s America, which wasD\’Souza’s first movie and has been out of theaters for two years, while Lionsgate released America on July 2 and it is currentlyplaying in about 1,100 theaters nationwide.
Google, according to theletter, has been “misdirecting many users who mistakenlybelieved the film was not playing in theaters. We understand this wasbrought to your attention for correction five days ago, yet theproblem persists.”
Fascinating. For almost a week\’s time google has managed to screw up the information for every inquiry about this movie…and the folks over there just can\’t seem to fix it. FYI, “2016: Obama\’s America” was, as documentaries go, a huge hit when it was released two years ago.
Does this make you wonder how not one, but two such situations could be ongoing? Maybe a bit suspicious? Maybe a lot suspicious?
Well, maybe this edify your suspicion:
–Costco\’s co-founder, Jim Sinegal, is a big time Democrat donor, and a huge supporter of Barack Obama who spoke at the 2012 Democrat convention;
–Eric Schmidt is a huge Obama fan, has worked closely with him, and Google was the third largest source of corporate campaign money Obama had.
To review: Dinesh D\’Souza has a #1 best-selling book, and a follow-up documentary to his highly successful first one. And Costco, co-founded by a big-time Obama Supporter dumps the books from its shelves while Google, run by another big-time Obama supporter is screwing up all inquiries about the movie.
Do you think this is coincidental? Think about it — I doubt your thought process will take very long.
Then, afterwards, be sure to think about these “coincidences” any time someone tells you the right – not the left, the right – censors free thought.
