Today\’s quote comes to us from Jeff Zucker, former head of MSNBC who now heads CNN – a station which is sinking faster than the Titanic did when it hit the iceberg.
This is what he said to New York Times reporter Bill Carter on Monday night, about the impending Benghazi select committee hearings:
“We\’renot going to be shamed into it by others who have political beliefsthat want to try to have temper tantrums to shame other newsorganizations into covering something. If it\’s of real news value,we\’ll cover it.”
The US facility in Benghazi, Libya – a lawless country festering with al-Qaeda and its offshoots – that had inadequate security on 9/11, the one day of the year terrorists would most want to hit us. Four dead, including our ambassador. An administration that has lied about what happened continuously ever since – as proven by new documents which only came to light because the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) was invoked, certainly not because Obama & Co. willingly made them available….
….and this genius can\’t figure out that the hearings might have news value. He will stand tall and now be “shamed” into covering the hearings. His network is too busy doing non-stop coverage of Malaysia Flight 370, for which there has not been any new information of any kind in over a month.
Zucker\’s rise as a TV executive was meteoric. He had innovative new ideas, introduced some big hit shows, and, with spectacular rapidity, rose to become the #1 guy at NBC-Universal.
But what happens to meteors? They flame out and crash, don\’t they? Well, that is what has happened to Jeff Zucker.
While he was NBC – Universal\’s chief executive, the network fell through a trap door – and when Comcast came in it bought him out – $30 – 40 million down the crapper just to get rid of him.
Zucker then became the producer of Katie Couric\’s afternoon show on ABC, which failed miserably.
Then, inexplicably, CNN took him on as its Worldwide President. the result? CNN is falling like a parachutist with a broken rip cord.
I award Jeff Zucker quote of the day “honors” for displaying, so clearly, the kind of decision-making which has caused his career to take this turn.
Congratulations, Jeff. Great going. And I promise that there are many viewers – oh, dozens and dozens nationwide – who cannot wait for the latest on where Flight 370 isn\’t.
