Want a good definition of “enviro-wacko”?
Just click here and read Robert Zubrin\’s account of a Canadian Indian tribe\’s hugely successful effort to replenish its traditional salmon-fishing grounds….and the outrage it has caused some so-called environmentalists.

In2012, the British Columbia-based Native American Haida tribelaunched an effort to restore the salmon fishery that has providedmuch of their livelihood for centuries. Acting collectively, theHaida voted to form the HaidaSalmon Restoration Corporation, financed it with $2.5 million oftheir own savings, and used it to support the efforts of Americanscientist-entrepreneur Russ George to demonstrate the feasibility ofopen-sea mariculture – in this case, the distribution of 120 tons ofiron sulfate into the northeast Pacific to stimulate a phytoplanktonbloom which in turn would provide ample food for baby salmon.
Infact it has been a stunningly over-the-top success. This year, thenumber of salmon caught in the northeast Pacific more thanquadrupled, going from 50 million to 226 million. In the FraserRiver, which only once before in history had a salmon run greaterthan 25 million fish (about 45 million in 2010), the number of salmonincreased to 72 million.
NativeAmericans bringing back the salmon and preserving their way of life,while combating global warming: One would think thatenvironmentalists would be very pleased.
Onewould be very wrong. Far from receiving applause for theirinitiative, the Haida and Mr. George have become the target of rageaimed from every corner of the community seeking to use globalwarming as a pretext for curtailing human freedom.

There are people, no small number of them, who believe that at least some members of the environmental movement are so off the deep end they will attack and condemn even the kind of success you just read about….while others are far less interested in the truth than they are in keeping their grant money coming and getting their names in the papers.
Reading the above material, it isn\’t hard to see why.
