It is hard to think of a more disgraceful sham than to give people the false sense of security which this article shows to be concocted out of thin air.
By doing so, the responsible parties – and how can they not include Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Chief Garry McCarthy – endanger every decent Chicagoan (and, as someone with a 33 year business association with the city, I know that a large majority of them are decent people.
To every resident and every visitor: do not believe what you are being told by these frauds. Do not be gulled into thinking that it is significantly safer in Chicago than it was in previous years. Do not let your guard down.
“Better safe than sorry” may be a cliche. But it is a damn good one.
