THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote is in the form of part of a statement released by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who was to have been given an honorary degree by Brandeis University.

As you probably know, pressure by CAIR, an Islamic group tied to the Muslim brotherhood, and a contingent of useful idiots among far left Jewish students and faculty, induced Brandeis\’ coward of a President, frederick lawrence, to rescind that honor.

Here is what Ms. Ali had to say:

“Whatwas initially intended as an honor has now devolved into a moment ofshaming. Yet the slur on my reputation is not the worst aspect ofthis episode. More deplorable is that an institution set up on thebasis of religious freedom should today so deeply betray its ownfounding principles. The \’spirit of free expression\’ referred to inthe Brandeis statement has been stifled here, as my critics haveachieved their objective of preventing me from addressing thegraduating Class of 2014. Neither Brandeis nor my critics knew oreven inquired as to what I might say. They simply wanted me to besilenced. I regret that very much.

“Notcontent with a public disavowal, Brandeis has invited me \’to join uson campus in the future to engage in a dialogue about these importantissues.\’ Sadly, in words and deeds, the university has already spokenits piece. I have no wish to \’engage\’ in such one-sided dialogue. Ican only wish the Class of 2014 the best of luck-and hope that theywill go forth to be better advocates for free expression and freethought than their alma mater.

“Itake this opportunity to thank all those who have supported me and mywork on behalf of oppressed woman and girls everywhere.”

Thank you, Ms. Ali.  That was well said.  Beautifully, compellingly presented.  Just as, I am sure, your acceptance statement would have been.

Too bad the pathetic joke that Brandeis is, under frederick lawrence, will never hear it.

This supposed institute of higher learning may not be giving you any awards, Ms. Ali.  But, for whatever it is worth, I am.

Quote Of The Day honors are yours.  And please, please, keep up the important work you are doing, to free women in many (not all) Islamic cultures from being nothing more than child-bearing slaves, with human rights roughly equivalent to those of barnyard animals.
