THE GALLIN’ GLOBS

Yes, I know it’s “Golden Globes”.  The title’s reference is meant to convey how annoyingly, predictably PC the host (Jimmy Fallon) and some presenters/winners were (NOTE:  don’t doubt for a second that the Oscars will try to outdo them).

Jimmy Fallon was an engaging, funny host – certainly the best part of this show.  But he could not resist (or maybe he just felt it necessary for his career) bashing Donald Trump time after time.

Here is a compilation of Fallon’s Trump “humor”, which I pulled from John Hinderaker’s article on the show – one that you should definitely click here and read in its entirety – to the dismay of a Hollywood Reporter writer, who felt Fallon went to easy on him:

Deadline Hollywood faulted the show because…host Jimmy Fallon did not rip Donald Trump sufficiently!

The Deadline Hollywood writer adds that Fallon was “way too cautious,” while Hugh Laurie “slayed the crowd and the GOP with his victory speech.”

These were some of his jokes, which were deemed not sufficiently anti-Trump:

This is the Golden Globes, one of the few places left where America still honors the popular vote.

The film “Florence Foster Jenkins” is nominated. The character, the character has been dubbed the world’s worst opera singer. And even she turned down performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“Game of Thrones” is nominated tonight. The show has so many plot twists and shocking moments. A lot of people have wondered what it would have been like if King Joffrey had lived. In 12 days we’ll find out.

Of course there’s always the ballots for tonight’s Golden Globes, carefully tabulated by the accounting firm of Ernst and Young and Putin.

This is deemed insufficiently anti-Trump.

I have a friend who is very confrontational – especially when he feels he has been personally attacked.   One of the ways he expresses this feeling is to tell the person involved “You’re effing with the wrong guy” – “eff” being a sanitized version of the actual quote.

Does Hollywood think Donald Trump will shrink from the fight it is trying so hard to pick with him?  Does Hollywood think Donald Trump is not going to give back as good as he gets – maybe a lot more?

If so, Hollywood doesn’t realize it’s effing with the wrong guy.  And as wrong guys go, the President of the United States is pretty far up the food chain.

What will this mean over the next four years?

We’ll soon find out, won’t we?
