DUMB AND DUMBER

At last night’s Golden Globes award show, Meryl Streep (among others) used the occasion to make an anti-Donald Trump statement.  Regardless of whether she was wrong (that ridiculous comment about passports for people who, I am sure, have them) or right (nailing Trump for his despicable mocking of a disabled New York Times reporter, then claiming he didn’t do it, he only was showing the reporter’s discomfiture (almost impossible to believe), this was an entertainment awards show, not the Democratic National Convention.

It was dumb.

And Donald Trump’s tweet afterwards, calling Streep “one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood”, and “a Hillary flunky who lost big time”, then claiming he wasn’t mocking the reporter’s disability (almost impossible to believe), but “showed him grovelling when he changed a 16 year old story (which he did) was even worse.  It demonstrated that, even as the incoming President of the United States, Mr. Trump cannot control himself enough to let inconsequential things like a movie star’s political rantings go.  Will he be tweeting insults about world leaders too?

Meryl Streep is not important to Donald Trump.  But he made her important with that juvenile tweet.

It was dumber.
