It is a week after the election, and The New York Times, true to its “principles” (I’m not sure that word applies), has continued its daily assault on Donald Trump and everything about him.
This includes today’s lead editorial which tells you Rudy Giuliani is a blithering idiot and incompetent; not exactly in those words, but with unmistakable clarity.
It also tells you Rudy Giuliani has no business being considered as Secretary Of State.
In that final area, the Times and I have a point of agreement.
Here is the tiny swatch of its editorial where we have commonality (the rest is more of the Times’ pathological hate-bashing of Giuliani, or anyone else connected with Donald Trump):
A successful secretary of state must be steeped in history and geopolitics and have shrewd negotiating skills and a clear sense of America’s capabilities, principles and the limits of Washington’s power.
The extent of Mr. Giuliani’s international experience has been largely limited to giving speeches and consulting work.
Rudy Giuliani’s experience, other than private consulting, is that he was a young, and (unlike Hillary Clinton’s Watergate fiasco) highly successful lawyer with the Knapp Commission, then a fearless, remarkably successful U. S. Attorney, then a hugely successful Mayor of New York City.
What part of that background, brilliant though it may be, prepares him to be our Secretary of State? None.
If Mr. Trump wanted to make Rudy Giuliani our Attorney General, or head of Homeland Security, I would congratulate him on an excellent selection.
If he decides to reward Rudy Giuliani by putting him into an area he has no background or expertise in – an area that is critical to our success on the world stage, that is just plain nuts.

In the spirit of the part of this story that brings up the bias of the Times. We have this…

Luncheon was fun, at 21, but I had to run, for drinks at the Plaza….
Your challenge – name the show, and song, that came from,
(About a half hour later):
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, time’s up. It is from the funny, very inventive song “Drop That Name”. The show? One of the all-time greats: Bells Are Ringing.
Ken, did you get a chance to watch the video that was at the link I posted???
This is going to be a long 4 years with media already acting like this.
