Today’s paragraphs of the day come to us from writer/analyst David Harsanyi.
Here is a key segment of his latest commentary, from thefederalist.com, titled “The Democrats Have Only Themselves To Blame For Trump”.
It’s worth remembering that every time a media figure or liberal grumbled about how terrible the 2016 presidential election was, they meant Trump was terrible. The Democratic Party establishment never entertained any other nominee seriously, and the liberal punditry never earnestly lamented Hillary’s inadequacies. There was never any question that all the money, power, and infrastructure of the Left would mobilize behind Hillary.
The media never treated Clinton as an atypical candidate, although she was in so many ways. No matter how often she lied or much we learned about her racketeering or her malleable positions on foreign policy and everything else, her defenders could claim that there was no moral equivalency between her and Trump.
There was. Democrats nominated one of the least trusted people to ever run for the presidency. According to the finalWashington Post-ABC News tracking poll, Americans trusted Hillary six points less than they did Trump, whose absurdities and outright fabrications probably came off as straight talk to millions of Americans sick of hearing manicured talking points. An Associated Press-GfK poll also found that 92 percent of Americans thought Clinton’s email setup either broke the law or was in “poor judgment.” Only 6 percent believed she did nothing wrong. This poll was taken months before the freakout over the James Comey letter. Rather than dealing with this reality, Democrats and their allies attempted to normalize her corruption.
Excellent analysis.
Hillary Clinton was not nominated. She was anointed.
Democrats cleared out the opposition, either through discouragement and intimidation or, in the case of Bernie Sanders, who wasn’t deterred, just stacking the deck so that he couldn’t win no matter how many primaries he beat her in.
David Harsanyi wins Paragraphs Of The Day honors for bringing this out so clearly; for showing how the Democrat Party, by greasing the skids for Hillary Clinton so that she, and she alone, could be their nominee, screwed itself in the process.
This loss, it almost certainly seems, ends the political career of Hillary Clinton.
She can now join her husband, Bill, in continuing their oversight of The Clinton Foundation – though I have a feeling that, since neither is any longer in a position of being able to provide meaningful access for potential donors, the revenue stream is going to dry up faster than a spilled teaspoon of water in the Sahara.

President Trump might direct the IRS, FBI, etc to investigate the books of the Clinton Foundation.
Hillary for Prison, 2017
I don’t think he will waste his time or the countries on that.
I told my friend last night that We know many things about Trump. The most important is he hates to lose. So I believe he will do what ever it takes to be a successful President like he said in his victory speech and will work with the D’s to accomplish that goal. Although Obama opened the door to him ruling by Executive Order. Hopefully if he does that, the D’s and R’s will come together and curtail the power of EO’s. This country is not supposed to be ruled by one person.
