HILLARY CLINTON’S RESPONSE TO THE TRUMP CANCELLATION

Earlier today I speculated on what Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders would say about the fascists/brownshirts who disrupted Donald Trump  in Saint Louis and caused his campaign speech to be canceled in Chicago.  I said this:

The answer, almost certainly, is that they will toss out a few hackneyed cliches deploring anger and violence – on both sides, of course, as if there were any equality at all in this situation – and express the hope for more civil discourse in the future, while reminding us all that Donald Trump’s positions were the catalyst (i.e. “yeah, I’m saying both sides were wrong, but it was his fault”).

It turns out that I was wrong.  Hillary Clinton did not toss out a few hackneyed cliches suggesting both sides were equally to blame and she did not say that both sides were wrong but it was Trump’s fault.

She just blamed Trump.  The far left looney-tunes and #blacklivesmatter disrupters did not get so much as one word of criticism.

Here, from Kurtis Lee’s article for the Los Angeles Times, are her exact words:

Hillary Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, said at a campaign appearance in St. Louis on Saturday that Trump’s “divisive rhetoric … is wrong and it’s dangerous.”

“If you play with matches, you’re going to start a fire you can’t control. That’s not leadership,” she said. “That’s political arson. The test of leadership and citizenship is the opposite. If you see bigotry, oppose it. If you see violence, condemn it. And if you see a bully, stand up to him.”

Do you see even one word about the fascist/brownshirts who shut Trump down in Chicago?  Any condemnation of their widely reported intention to “storm the stage”, which any reasonable person would consider a clear threat of violence?

Nope, you did not.  Just a bunch of hackneyed cliches and a charge that Donald Trump was the catalyst.

See, Ms. Clinton cannot attack a group like moveon.org, because it already prefers Bernie Sanders to her, and such an attack will solidify its position….maybe cause some of them to stay home or vote for Sanders third-party on election day.

And she cannot attack #blacklivesmatter, because if she loses any appreciable part of the Black vote it is nearly impossible for her to win a national election.  So they can do pretty much anything they want, no matter how ugly, and Ms. Clinton will either be silent or rationalize why what they did was okey-dokey with her.

So I was wrong about Ms. Clinton.  I made the mistake of expecting that she would at least pay lip service to the idea that the fascists/brownshirts might have done something wrong in some way.

Silly me.

  • Ken, A part of this blog post made me wonder about something, blm. Has there been any polls in the Black community about support for blm? I am wondering if the majority of Blacks even agree with them
