Today’s quote comes to us from Christopher Dickey, who edits The Daily Beast web site.
This is Mr. Dickey’s wit and wisdom regarding the latest terror attack, in Munich, the terrorist attacks that have taken place throughout Europe, and their connection – so help me – to the Republican National Convention:
“Just over a week ago. I think, Brian (Williams of MSNBC), one of the things this people need to keep in mind about this as we listen again and again and we talk again and again about terrorism, about mass killings, about all these horrible things that are happening is how few people actually are involved in carrying them out.
“Because what we’re looking at now in Europe and, to some extent, at the Republican convention and in the discourse in the United States, is a lot of talk about war as if we’re talking about a massive operation, huge fifth columns, enormous numbers of people. Even when we’re talking about countries that have had a number of people go to Syria and train with ISIS and perhaps come back, we’re talking about a few hundred here and there. Yet we’re often talking as if we’re going to go to war with a billion Muslims.
“And I think we need to be very, very careful about that. You are very careful. NBC is very careful. But the broader discourse is really kind of hysterical because the reaction that we all feel is that we want a simple solution. We want to be safe again. We don’t want this to happen anymore. But we have to recognize that there’s a very small number of people who are carrying out these acts.
“And that should always be the perspective that we keep these things in. It’s still more of a law enforcement issue than a military issue to a large extent. Particularly inside Europe, inside the United States.”
Let me remind you again that Christopher Dickey edits what some people see as a neutral internet news site.
Personally, I don’t often speak for ISIS. But today, on its behalf, and on behalf of its numerous, and growing, terrorist colleagues, I would like to extend a hearty thank-you to Mr. Dickey. With a mind-set like his, there is little doubt they can continue to flourish.
I award Christopher Dickey Quote Of The Day “honors”, because statements like his – that the terrorist activities we have seen over recent months are not part of some larger movement, they are just a few little people here and there, they are entirely a law enforcement issue…oh, and damn those Republicans – are not the usual fare.
No, even with the internet open to everyone, you don’t find this level of mindless, imbecilic denial easily – certainly not from someone running what is supposed to be a web site devoted to providing intelligent information.
Congratulations, Mr. Dickey. You’ve certainly made your views clear.

The support networks for funding, recruitment, providing safe houses, escape and evasion after, providing and transporting weapons, intelligence, etc, etc are a large web. Especially when they operate in a sea of supporters — supporters who commit ideologically or who passively acquiesce. Mr. Christopher Dickey and Brian Williams would do well to research how violent mass movements began : Nazis, Bolsheviks, etc,
