WHY I RAIL ABOUT MEDIA (CONT.)

Today’s quote comes to us from Gayle King, the staunchly liberal leftist co-host of staunchly liberal/left “CBS This Morning”

As you may be aware, yesterday I awarded Quote Of The Day honors to former Mayor Rudy Giuliani for what I considered a highly thoughtful, fair-minded appraisal detailing the underlying causes of violence between police and Black males.  I urge you click here and read it.

Mr. Giuliani made his comments on Sunday, during a segment with John Dickerson, host of CBS’s “Face The Nation”.

Well, Mr. Dickerson was on Monday’s CBS This Morning show, and commented that Mr. Giuliani has a problem with the wording of “Black lives matter” on the grounds that it elevates Black lives above others.  Dickerson’s  His exact words:

“Well, you know, it depends what he means by Black Lives Matter. I mean, there’s the movement and then there’s the larger movement for social justice and they get mixed a lot. The protest in Dallas is called the Black Lives Matter protest, it wasn’t. So it’s not clear what he means. But what he seems to mean is that the Black Lives Matter phrase is about black lives mattering more. The Black Lives Matter phrase is about the argument that black lives should matter as much as, and that’s the disconnect, and that’s not an uncommon disconnect that he was speaking to there.”

So, with Rudy Giuliani not there to defend/explain himself, Mr. Dickerson told us he just doesn’t understand that the term means nothing more than equality – a “fact” I am sure Mr. Giuliani would emphatically disagree with, based on the group’s actions over the past two years.

This, of course, is before we get to the fact that Dickerson cherry-picked one tiny swatch of what Mr. Giuliani said, and ignored the rest – like, for example, the part about Black on Black crime – which is maybe a little harder to cavalierly dismiss – even without Giuliani there to answer.

And now we come to Gayle King.

Here is her Quote-Of-The-Day-winning reaction to Mr. Dickerson’s comment:

“And that’s why it’s so frustrating, John, because anybody in the Black Lives Matter movement has never said that black lives matter more than yours. No one’s ever said that. They’re just trying to bring attention to the cause that a lot of black, unarmed men are being shot by white police officers. And it’s frustrating, I think, because people think Dylan Roof, who did the shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, killed nine people, James Holmes who killed, you know, over 12 people in Colorado, wounded 70, both white people, were both arrested, and not killed. And you’re thinking, how are these people able to survive, and unarmed black men are being killed? It’s very difficult.”

That so, Ms. King?

The Black lives matter movement is about equality?  Tell us:  how many marches has #blacklivesmatter held for White people killed by Blacks?  For Black people killed by other Blacks?  The truth – and we have two years of their actions to prove it – is that #blacklivesmatter is a racist hate group only interested in exploiting instances of White cops shooting Blacks, regardless of whether the shootings are justified, to scream racial epithets and chant death wishes to cops.

Then there is the claim, repeated endlessly in various forms, that White cops have declared open season on Black males.  Just this week, a Harvard University study, conducted by Professor Roland G. Fryer, Jr., himself Black, concluded that this is absolutely untrue.

And Prof. Fryer is not the only one either.  Read Heather McDonald’s eye-opening commentary, published in the Wall Street Journal, and get the actual statistics…which make Gayle King’s comments look, at best, ignorant and juvenile; at worst, knowingly racist.

But, hey Gayle is on a roll, so let’s continue.

Yes, it is true that Dylan Roof and James Holmes were arrested, not killed.  A vast majority of White murder suspects are arrested, not killed.  But, then again, so are a vast majority of Black murder suspects – a little factoid conveniently left unmentioned by Ms. King….and not brought up by her pals on the CBS set either, it should be noted.  All King proves here is that she can cherry-pick a few anecdotal events, while ignoring all the rest, and “prove” anything she wants.

I award Gayle King Quote Of The Day “honors” (though I doubt she is honored to win), because she has given us a textbook lesson in how easily someone can make a fool of him/herself on national TV.

I only wish it weren’t such a common occurrence….and, here, I’m not talking only about Gayle King.
